Free Restrooms — Everything About Sanisettes
All over Paris you'll find cylindrical automatic public toilets called sanisettes. They've been completely free since 2006 — no coins, no app needed. Press the button and the door opens automatically; once inside, you need to leave within 15 minutes (stay longer and the system assumes you've "moved in" and triggers a warning).

Free Museums — A Full Breakdown by Condition
Even major museums like the Louvre can be free to enter if you meet the right conditions. The catch is that the conditions vary by museum and by season, which makes it easy to get confused.

One thing needs to be made very clear here. The free-entry benefit for EU residents aged 18–25 does not apply to Korean passport holders. Even if you're in the right age range, there's a separate "EU resident" requirement. On the other hand, the permanent collections at city museums are free for anyone regardless of nationality — so if you're on a tight budget, that's the one to go for first.
What Changed in 2026 — Even Free Entry Now Requires a Reservation
This is the most recent change, so I want to flag it clearly. As of March 10, 2026, advance reservations became mandatory even for free-entry slots (including first Sundays, free EU youth entry, and Heritage Days). The old approach of "it's free, so I'll just show up and queue" no longer works.

First-Sunday slots between April and June have been reported to sell out within days of reservations opening. If you're planning a free visit during this window, check the reservation opening date in advance and mark it on your calendar.
A Common Mishap
Turned Away After Assuming Free Meant No Reservation Needed
