파리는 이용객이 줄어드는 여름에 노선을 돌아가며 보수합니다. 올해는 근교로 나가는 노선이 특히 많이 걸렸습니다. 베르사유, 디즈니랜드, 공항 일정이 있으시면 아래를 먼저 확인해 주세요.

RER B는 샤를드골을 오가는 노선이라 입출국 일정에 바로 영향이 옵니다. 당일 아침에 알면 선택지가 택시밖에 없고, 새벽 시간대에는 값도 크게 뜁니다.

8월 12일 저녁, 파리 하늘에서 일식을 봅니다
8월 12일 파리에서 태양의 약 92%가 가려지는 부분일식이 있습니다. 저녁 7시 20분 무렵 시작해 8시 17분 전후에 가장 많이 가려지고, 9시 넘어 끝납니다. 이때 해가 서쪽 지평선에 아주 낮게 걸려 있습니다.
어디서 볼까
- 높은 곳보다 서쪽 하늘이 트인 곳이 중요합니다. 앞에 건물이 있으면 해가 가려집니다.
- 몽마르트르 언덕, 센강 서쪽 방향 강변, 서향 루프탑이 조건에 맞습니다.
- 당일 저녁 인기 자리는 붐빕니다. 한 시간 전에는 자리를 잡으시는 게 좋습니다.
- 구름이 끼면 못 봅니다. 당일 낮에 일기예보를 확인하고 대안 장소를 하나 더 정해두세요.
맨눈으로 보면 안 됩니다
부분일식은 태양이 완전히 가려지는 순간이 없습니다. 즉 맨눈으로 안전한 시간이 아예 없습니다. 선글라스나 필름은 보호가 되지 않습니다.
ISO 12312-2 인증 일식 안경을 처음부터 끝까지 쓰세요. 휴대폰이나 카메라, 쌍안경으로 볼 때도 전용 태양 필터가 필요합니다. 필터 없이 렌즈를 태양에 겨누면 기기 센서가 상하고, 뷰파인더를 들여다보면 눈이 다칩니다.

명소가 갑자기 문을 닫을 수 있습니다
올여름 폭염으로 에펠탑과 루브르 같은 대표 명소가 한때 운영을 멈춘 사례가 있었습니다. 예약을 해두셨어도 당일 상황에 따라 입장이 미뤄질 수 있습니다.
- 가시기 전날 해당 명소 공식 홈페이지나 SNS 계정을 확인하세요.
- 야외 일정은 오전과 늦은 오후로, 한낮은 실내로 배치하는 편이 안전합니다.
- 루브르는 화요일, 오르세와 베르사유는 월요일이 휴관입니다. 이건 폭염과 무관하게 늘 그렇습니다.

베르사유 앞에서 돌아선 가족
아침 일찍 베르사유에 가시겠다며 나선 가족이 계셨습니다. 늘 하던 대로 RER C를 타려고 역에 내려가셨는데, 안내판에 해당 구간이 운행하지 않는다고 떠 있었습니다.
다시 올라와 저희에게 전화를 주셨습니다. 몽파르나스에서 다른 열차로 가는 길을 알려드렸지만, 이미 왕복 한 시간을 길에서 버린 뒤였습니다. 그날은 결국 베르사유를 포기하고 시내 일정으로 바꾸셨습니다.
아쉬웠던 건 전날 저녁에 한 번만 확인했으면 됐을 일이었다는 점입니다. 그 뒤로 저희는 근교 일정이 있는 손님께는 전날 밤에 노선 상황을 확인해서 알려드립니다.

Lines Suspended This Week
Paris rotates through maintenance on different lines during summer, when ridership drops. This year, routes heading out to the suburbs are especially affected. If you have plans involving Versailles, Disneyland, or the airport, please check the table below first.

If You're Heading to the Airport, Check the Night Before
RER B runs to and from Charles de Gaulle, so it has a direct impact on arrival or departure plans. If you only find out the morning of, your only option is a taxi, and fares spike sharply in the early-morning hours.

On the Evening of August 12, You Can See a Solar Eclipse Over Paris
On August 12, Paris will see a partial eclipse covering roughly 92% of the sun. It starts around 7:20pm, reaches maximum coverage around 8:17pm, and ends after 9pm. At this point the sun sits very low on the western horizon.
Where to Watch
- What matters more than elevation is having a clear view to the west. A building in front of you will block the sun.
- Montmartre hill, the western stretch of the Seine riverbank, and west-facing rooftops all fit the bill.
- Popular spots get crowded that evening. It's a good idea to claim your spot an hour ahead.
- If it's cloudy, you won't see anything. Check the forecast that afternoon and have a backup location in mind.
Do Not Look With the Naked Eye
A partial eclipse never reaches full coverage, meaning there is no point at which it's safe for the naked eye. Sunglasses or film offer no protection.
Wear ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses the whole time. If you're viewing through a phone, camera, or binoculars, you also need a dedicated solar filter. Pointing an unfiltered lens at the sun will damage the device's sensor, and looking through the viewfinder will damage your eyes.
These can be hard to find locally, so if you're visiting, bring a pair from Korea ahead of time.

Landmarks Can Close Without Warning
This summer's heatwave has caused landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre to suspend operations at times. Even with a booking, entry can be delayed depending on conditions that day.
- Check the landmark's official website or social media accounts the day before you go.
- It's safer to schedule outdoor plans for morning and late afternoon, and save midday for indoor activities.
- The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays, and Orsay and Versailles are closed on Mondays. This is always true, regardless of the heat.
Something That Happened
The Family Who Turned Back in Front of Versailles
We had a family who set out early one morning for Versailles. They went down to the station to take RER C as usual, and found a sign saying the line wasn't running on that section.
They came back up and called us. We told them about an alternate route from Gare Montparnasse, but by then they'd already lost an hour going back and forth. In the end, they gave up on Versailles that day and switched to a city itinerary instead.
What was frustrating was that a single check the evening before would have been enough. Since then, whenever a guest has a day trip planned, we check the line status the night before and let them know.
