BlaBlaCar Bus is completely shutting down its bus operations in France by the end of 2026. This was officially announced on April 21, 2026. Some regional routes have already been progressively disappearing since May 2026, and more routes will keep disappearing every month through the end of the year. Because of this, this guide focuses in practice on FlixBus. Note that the BlaBlaCar app itself will keep operating as a marketplace selling tickets from other independent bus companies — it's specifically BlaBlaCar's own "BlaBlaCar Bus" operated routes that are being discontinued.
When and how to book for the best price
FlixBus uses dynamic pricing, just like airlines. The earlier you book, the cheaper it is, and prices climb as the departure date approaches. Booking roughly 3 to 4 weeks ahead tends to be the sweet spot, and departures on Tuesdays and Wednesdays or in the early morning/late night are relatively cheaper.
You can book through the app or website, paying by credit card, PayPal, Google Pay, or Apple Pay — some routes also allow payment at the boarding point.
